OK so there you have it.  I posted for the entire month of February all 4 stages of the Medifast Transition Program on my Medifast blog daily.  Since I lost 80 pounds on the 5&1 Plan I’ll continue Transition for the full 12 weeks.  So as not to bore my readers I will only be posting from now on when I have something of value to share.

Transition has taken a lot of thought and planning.  If you’re not working with a coach on the 5&1 Plan, Transition may be a good time to connect with one that has done it already. They can save you a lot of time in helping you figure it all out.

If you think that after you reach goal you are “DONE” then ask someone that has not had success and is re-visiting the program again, if they did Transition and Maintenance fully. I bet not.

Maintaining a healthy weight takes a lifetime of effort and decision making on a daily basis. It’s similar to your car that you must add fuel to, do repairs and handle with care so that it will take you where you want to go.  With proper fuel, exercise and maintenance, your body will take you where you want to go and last a lifetime.

Take care of your body…it’s the only place you have to live.

Medifast and Take Shape For Life have changed my life in so many ways.  I know what this program can do and I’m Paying It Forward to help everyone I can to lose weight and get healthy so they can live the life they deserve.

Day 27 Medifast Transition…I’m Not In Hot Water

Day 27 Medifast Transition…I’m Not In Hot Water

Mid Morning  Medifast 1 strawberry crunch bar and water
Lunch   Extra Protein chicken Whole Grain Serving  1/2 cup brown rice

Bedtime Medifast 3 Chocolate pudding

Totally off topic…

I was wondering if appliance companies program a death switch on all major appliances to only die on a weekend? Or is it just me?

It never fails the furnace goes out on a Friday night on the coldest day of the year.  Our tenants pipes freeze and flood the basement on a freezing Saturday morning or their air conditioner goes out on the weekend. Get the idea I could go on.

Today it was our hot water heater.  My son noticed it was leaking at 1:30 this morning when he got home from work.  He didn’t wake us, for that I’m grateful. There is a drain close by so I just had to move out a few things and dry them off and push the water to the drain.  I have done that several times today.  We have no hot water. I found that out this morning when I thought I could get one last quick shower in.  No luck there. I unplugged it and shut the water line off to it and check it often, it’s still leaking.  My husband wasn’t concerned and left it for me to deal with when he went to work.  Unless it’s an emergency like no heat or a flooded basement I’m not willing to pay time in a half for labor. So I’ll have to wait till Monday when they open to give them a call.

So if anyone is out there reading this and has a tank less water heater I would love to hear if it’s a better option than a standard water heater.  We are a family of 5 with a few that love taking long hot showers, would a tank less be a good option?

As for my 27th day of transition, it went well.  I got more foods in earlier in the day so I wasn’t eating a lot late at night like last night. Many of my tastes have changed.  Even the lite soy sauce seems too salty so I need just a splash now.  I enjoy the brown rice more than 1/2 of English muffin.

Day 26 Medifast Transition…What I learned today

Friday, February 26th, 2010
Day 26 Medifast Transition…What I learned today

Medifast Transition Meal Chicken and Brown Rice w/ lite soy sauce

Day 26

Breakfast  Medifast 1 Cappuccino
Mid Morning  Fruit Serving 1  Mandarin Oranges,  1/2 Dairy Serving yogurt
Lunch  Medifast 2 Chocolate crunch bar and water
Afternoon Extra Veggies baby carrots
Dinner  Whole Grain Serving  1/2 cup brown rice Lean & Green Chicken & mashed cauliflower
Evening Fruit Serving 2 peaches 1/2 Dairy Serving yogurt Extra Protein 4 oz chicken
Bedtime Medifast 3 Chocolate pudding

What I learned today…

If you don’t space out all this food you end up eating a lot at one time. I forgot about my extra protein and had to have that after dinner with a dairy and fruit serving. Have food made and ready to grab so you don’t always need to cook something.  I freeze ground turkey meat browned with taco seasonings added in serving size.  I have cooked chicken breasts and in the summer I’ll have grilled ones ready to eat.  Hard boiled eggs are a great ready to eat protein. I like fresh cauliflower mashed better than frozen.  Baby carrots travel well and are not messy to eat.  You can now buy ready to eat brown with wild rice in one cup servings so just eat half for a whole grain serving. On the 5&1 I never felt stuffed and I liked that.

It comes down to a simple question:
What do you want out of life,
and what are you willing to do to get it?

Day 25 Medifast Transition…Back To Normal

Thursday, February 25th, 2010
Day 25 Medifast Transition…Back To Normal

Medifast Transition Breakfast of whole grain, dairy and fruit

Day 25

Breakfast Whole Grain Serving 1/2 wheat English muffin 1/2 Dairy Serving 1/2 cup yogurt, 1 Fruit serving 1/2 cup mandarin oranges and coffee

Mid Morning Medifast 1 Parmesan Cheese puffs and water

Lunch Extra Veggie Serving baby carrots Extra Protein Cottage Cheese and water

Afternoon Medifast 2 Chocolate crunch bar and water

Dinner  Lean and Green turkey taco salad and water

Evening 1/2 Dairy Serving 1/2 cup Yogurt and Fruit Serving 1/2 cup peaches

Bedtime Medifast 3 Chocolate pudding

I spent the day answering emails and making phone calls.  Unpacked and did a few loads of laundry.  I called to check in on my Mom and she is doing well.  I’ll be making a shopping list and going while I’m out tomorrow.  My meals are getting pretty boring.  I still do have my whole wheat pasta to try and also brown rice but I already had my whole grain serving for the day so they will have to wait.

I placed my March food order.  I went in and made a bunch of changes since I only need 3 Medifast meals a day.  I ordered extra because that way I got FREE shipping and I’ll have some extra food on hand if my local clients who want to swap any out or try a few new items.  I also like to give new clients some products to try while they are waiting for their food to arrive.  I would like to plan a local “tasting” to introduce people in the area to the Medifast Program and I can use extra product for that too.

Oh and I ordered Brownies for the first time.  I still didn’t get to try them.  I got extras of those too.

 Clear your mind of can’t.”

Day 24 Medifast Transition… On The Road Again Back Home

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010
Day 24 Medifast Transition… On The Road Again Back Home

Day 24

Breakfast Whole Grain Serving 1/2 wheat English muffin 1/2 Dairy Serving 1/2 cup yogurt,1 Fruit serving 1/2 cup mandarin oranges and coffee

Mid Morning Medifast 1 Crunch Bar and water

Lunch Extra Veggie lettuce Extra Protein Cottage Cheese and water

Afternoon Medifast 2 chocolate crunch bar and water

Dinner Lean and Green grilled chicken salad

Evening 1/2 Dairy Serving 1/2 cup Yogurt and 1 Fruit Serving Mandarin Oranges

Bedtime Medifast 3 Chocolate pudding

This morning after breakfast I ran into town to pick up a few things for my Mom before I left.  I came back and packed up the car.  I stopped at my old neighbors for lunch and got to meet her two grand kids for the first time.  I had lettuce and cottage cheese for my extra veggie and extra protein.  Cottage cheese is a meatless protein option so thought I over did the dairy but I counted it as a protein.  The ride home got pretty bad with high winds and blowing snow but I made it back safely and I did have a crunch bar on the drive home.  I stopped one last time at Culvers for my grilled chicken salad that makes 5 nights in a row.  But now that I’m home I’ll be cooking and having different options for dinner again.  I’m just about ready for my pudding and bed.

I’m glad I’m on the Medifast plan because over this past week caring for my Mom in the hospital I’m sure I would have been eating her dove chocolate bars and snack foods from vending machines like everyone else. The added stress would have made me feel it was OK to do.  Without my healthy habits and convient healthy foods I know I would have made poor choices.  Now that I know better I will do better.

Day 23 Medifast Transition…Stage 4 The Right Way

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010
Day 23 Medifast Transition…Stage 4 The Right Way

 Day 23

OK so I missed a few things yesterday in following my first day on stage 4.  I thought I was just cutting out a Medifast meal and adding a whole grain. I became very hungry and added a 4th Medifast meal like in stage 3.  After re-reading the rules again I correctly set up my Tuesday meal.  So here is what I ate.

Breakfast Whole Grain Serving 1/2 wheat English muffin 1/2 Dairy Serving 1/2 cup yogurt,1 Fruit serving 1/2 cup diced peaches and coffee

Mid Morning Medifast 1 Crunch Bar and water

Lunch Extra Veggie Serving Baby Carrots Extra Protein Cottage Cheese and water

Afternoon Medifast 2 Cheese Puffs and water

Dinner Lean and Green grilled Chicken breast salad

Evening 1/2 Dairy Serving 1/2 cup Yogurt and Fruit Serving 1/2 cup mandarin Oranges

Bedtime Medifast 3 Chocolate pudding

This is another was I traced it all.

Transition Plan for a weight loss of 50-100 lbs. 12 weeks of Transition

 3 Medifast Meals X X X

Lean and Green X

 1 Cup Extra Veggie X

 Additional Protein 4-6 oz X

 2 Fruit Servings 1/2 cup X X

 1 Cup Dairy Serving 1/2, 1/2

 Whole Grain Serving X

I also missed my Monday weigh in because I wasn’t at home with my scale so I’ll check in tomorrow.

Today I got in all that I should have according to the plan.  If anyone see’s an error please let me know.  I have always used the MY Plan on the support in motion site to log all my foods.  I’m not totally happy with the way transition gets figured out on that site.  Also since my internet had been limited I stuck to paper and pencil.

This takes thought and planning.  I look forward to the day I can help my clients.  It will save them a lot of time with me helping them out.

Day 22 Medifast Transition…Sent Home From The Hospital

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010
Day 22 Medifast Transition…Sent Home From The Hospital

 Day 22

So today is Monday and the start of my 4th Stage of the Medifast Transition Program. I’ll be adding whole grain.

Remember I’m still dealing with my Mom in the hospital. I read the left side of page 7 in the transition guide for someone loosing over 80 lbs. It wasn’t till night time that I re-read the entire page and now know why I was hungry and had an extra Medifast meal.

Breakfast Whole Grain Serving 1/2 wheat english muffin Fruit Serving peaches Dairy Serving Fat Free Yogurt and coffee

Mid morning Extra Veggie Serving baby carrots and water

Lunch Medifast 1 Nacho Cheese Puffs and water

Afternoon Medifast 2 Chocolate crunch bar and water

Dinner Lean and Green Grilled Chicken Salad and water

Evening cup of coffee Medifast 3 lemon crunch bar

Bedtime Medifast 4 Chocolate pudding

I was able to sleep in and get ready and had to make a few stops before going to the hospital. I had my breakfast before I left the house and my first 1/2 wheat english muffin ever. It tasted really good. My Mom had a healthy “butter” spread to top it off with.

When I got to the hospital they took her to town for an open MRI so I had a little time to read emails and take care of Business while munching on baby carrots in the lounge.

When she got back she had her lunch and I had my cheese puffs. After about 2 hours they said all was normal and she could go home. So I packed her all up and headed to the pharmacy and then to Culvers to pick us up dinner.

I got her all settled in at her house and we had dinner. By evening I wanted to run out and see if I could find WIFI to check on my emails. Well that was easier said then done. I first thought I could just go to back to the lobby of the hospital but the doors were already locked so I went to McDonalds and ordered a black small coffee sat down had a crunch bar because I was hungry and for 20 minutes I couldn’t connect so I headed out to another McDonalds no luck I tried Applebees no luck and I ended up outside a closed Borders Book Store in my car and was able to check my emails finally.

I got back home watched the Olympics with my Mom. I had my Chocolate pudding before bed. That’s when I took my Transition book to bed and re-read stage 4 again.

So I was hungry and ended up having a #4 Medifast Meal and now I know why. Stage 4 is adding more than just the whole grain. Adding a Medifast Meal was NOT a bad choice but now I know what else I need to add tomorrow. Read Day 23 to find out what I should now be eating everyday.

Day 21 Medifast Transition Plan… From A Hospital Room

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010
Day 21 Medifast Transition Plan… From A Hospital Room

Day 21

Breakfast  Medifast 1 Chocolate 70 Shake
Mid Morning Dairy Serving Fat Free Yougurt Fruit Serving Mandarine Oranges
Lunch Medifast 2 chocolate crunch bar
Afternoon Extra Veggie Serving Baby carrots
Dinner Lean and Green Grilled Chicken salad
Evening Medifast 3 Nacho cheese puffs
Bed Time Medifast 4 Pudding

I got a call bright and early from my Brother to call my Mom because she was upset. He was spending the day with his wife so I was on duty.
I spoke with her and told her I would be over ASAP. I showered and got ready had a cup of coffee and a Medifast Shake and drove to the hospital.
By then she was doing better.  Once again I packed my lunch bag with all my meals but the lean and green because it’s easy to pick up a salad on the way home. Another option would be to go down to the cafateria and pick up a salad for dinner.

I can get online at the hospital but not from my moms so I’m able to take care of my coaching business from the hospital room.  I make calls from her house in the evening so it’s great to have a business that can be so flexible. I carry my client files and program booklets so I have all I need to carry on business from anywhere.

Today was the last day of stage 3. Tomorrow starts stage 4 and I’ll be adding whole grains.

Sorry my updates are rather short.  My Mom is in the hospital out of state and I’ll be traveling to be with her in the morning.  I have been spending a lot of time on the phone this week.

I spent 4 days in the hospital with my son over the holidays and was able to stick 100% on plan while in the weight loss phase so I plan to do the same this time only while in Transition.  I’ll just bring my food in a lunch bag and get my lean and green out somewhere. I’ll be shopping today for the foods I need to bring along. Monday I get to add whole grains so I’ll shop for that too.
