It’s kosher dairy, vegetarian product, caffeine-free, soy-free, contains whey, and has low-lactose so it will agree with a lot of people. All except those needing their morning caffeine like me. If I miss my caffeine first thing in the morning I get a headache and drag the rest of the day.
My solution is when I do have the Medifast Cappuccino I add a teaspoon of instant coffee to my cup. I get a creamy cappuccino with a jolt of caffeine and it counts as a meal and I’m full for 2-3 hours. You could also add fresh brewed coffee to the mix instead of the water.
Another option is too add ice and blend it into a cold and refreshing iced coffee drink. You can also add sugar-free flavored syrups for a variety of different flavors. At only 100 calories for a meal it makes a great choice.
I went to the doctor for the first time since starting my Medifast 5&1 Plan and boy was she surprised.
Not only had I lost 30 pounds in 9 weeks I was able to drop my cholesterol by 72 points. My triglycerides by 83 points and I was also able to lower my ALT (liver enzyme) 20 points and back into a safe level. My unmedicated cholesterol level is around 335 and has been since I first tested it at age 15.
She was very interested in hearing what I was doing. I told her I had such great success with the program that I became a certified Health Coach with Take Shape For Life and I’m helping others to lose weight and get healthy now too.
The greatest news is that she said I could STOP taking my cholesterol meds and come back in 3 months for a re-check. That blood test will be a very important one since it will be 3 months on only Medifast and NO cholesterol meds at all.
I’m now saving $25.00 a month by NOT being on a cholesterol med.
I’ll post the new results good or bad in early December.
Medifast offers 6 soups, Beef Vegetable Stew and Chili. My favorite right now is Cream Of Broccoli. When I started my plan it was June and rather hot. The thought of hot soup was not something I want to eat. What I started to do was not eat it till it was cool. The cool soup still tasted great and it added to my meal variety all summer long. I’m sure in our cold Wisconsin winters I will welcome some hot soup.
When making the soup I follow these simple steps;
Heat the water only
Add soup mix to hot water and stir well
Cover bowl and let sit 5-10 minutes (longer for the chicken noodle, wild rice, stew and chili)
Enjoy
This method will NOT cause a boil over in the microwave. I like to make my soup in a large coffee mug and drink it. It’s less messy that way, which is great if you eat at your desk.
When I first started the program I learned I would need to drink at least 8 glasses of water. I had a real hard time in the beginning getting down 8 of my glasses of water.
Watch the video and see why and learn a few tips that helped me along the way.
The next video will be on what else you can drink on the plan. You won’t want to miss it!
Going back to a week after I signed up and my food finally arrived.
While I waited for me food I learned a little trick from reading the forums. Someone suggested sorting your 5 meals and placing them into a quart size zip lock bag.
Well I went all out and did it for the entire month. I sorted all my food into bags and then placed them all into my kitchen cabinet. Now I have an entire shelf devoted to only my food.
Each day I don’t need to stop and think what I’ll have for each meal. I just pick up a bag and go log my foods on the computer and I’m all set for the day. If I don’t have time to log my food online like on vacation I just jotted down each meal on a slip of paper and kept in the bag. I reuse the bags over each month.
This system may not work for everyone but I work from home and it’s perfect for me.
